Hi,
I have a shapefile which consists of a grid (polygons), each of which is
1 quarter degree in extent. I would like to create a second coverage where
each polygon is again subdivided into smaller polygons, each being 5
degrees by 5 degrees in extent. Essentially each degree square would
I have a number of these files, associated with .cpg, .prj, .shp, .shx,
.csv and .dbf files. These date back to 2019. I cannot seem to get them to
open in QGIS version 3.18. Do I need to first open them with an older
version of QGIS?
Thanks,
Paddy

Thank you. 3.18 still seems to be working perfectly (for my requirements
anyway) so will just have to stick with that until I can upgrade my pc.

Hi
I asked this a few days ago and I am wondering if perhaps no-one else

I have installed the above version but it only shows 4 plug-ins.
Whether I click on ALL or INSTALLED it still only shows 4. If I go back to
3.18 it works fine. Can anybody suggest a possible solution?

I currently have two adjoining polygons, A and B. Their common boundary is
the green line. The map from which this was digitised has changed and the
border now lies along the red line. In other words the boundary, instead of
ending at the X point must end at the Y point. How can I do this without
I have 2 shape files. One, which has been accurately digitised, contains
provinces. The second one, which has been badly digitised, contains regions
within the provinces. I now need to edit the regions so that their
boundaries snap to the boundaries of the provinces where they are adjacent.

Hi,
I am busy editing a polygon shapefile. This message appears at the top
of the canvas: "Geometry has been cleared. Use the add part tool to set
geometry for this feature". What does this mean and what am I supposed to
do? I am using the latest version of QGIS on Windows 7 pro.

What constitutes a coastline? Is it the high water mark, the low water
mark, something intermediate, the claimed territorial waters or something
else? I would also guess that this would differ depending on whether
political or geographical.

is? Can I edit this file while the layer is open or should I first remove
the layer before editing?
Thank you,

Hi
I am having a problem with changing co-ordinate in my attribute table.
I am using QGIS 3.18 on WIN 97,so far without any issues.
It is a point layer with towns and their co-ordinates. Three of these
data points had empty co-ordinate records and they displayed way out of
position. This
Hi,
So, just to confirm what I already suspect? If you have the .shx and
.dbf files but the .shp file is missing then you might as well get rid of
them? It is not possible to recreate the .shp file?
Thanks,
Paddy

I have a layer which displays quarter degree squares for the whole country.
I also have a csv file containing two fields. One of these is a field for

Hi,
I have a polygon layer and a point layer. Using Points in Polygons I

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I have a point coverage (shape file), in this case towns. When I open
the Attribute Table it has only three features and does not include the
geographic coordinates but when I use the Identify Features tool there is
much more information, including the geographic coordinates. Where is this
that there are some
topology errors. Maybe thats also a possible reason for malfunctions (just
guessing).
