Sorry if this has been answered previously, and the question is rather
basic, but anyway...
I am running QGIS 2.18.12
I am trying to import a number of e00 files (I can't remember the source),
but none of the QGIS options work, raster or vector.
Grass Tools seem promising, specifically v.in.e00,
Hi
As a relative newcomer I have been working through the QGIS 2.14 training
manual. Section 4.3.3 explains how to add calculated values using the Field
Calculator.
But when I do this ..(the examples are from 2.8 but the same procedure
seems to apply to 2.14).. the value stays as 0. It does this w
aha, it worked
takes a while to find the site tho

Hi,
I am relatively inexperienced with QGIS though I have used some of the
features a lot.
While working through the online training manual with QGIS 2.12, I found
that, after filtering the shape files extracted from the OSM exercise data,
the 'toggle editing' button was greyed out, and there see
I want to use IDW / Interpolation. I have specifiied the point layer
to use, but QGIS 1.8 (Windows 7) does not show any attributes for that
layer. However, QGIS 1.8 does show the attrubutes for other layers.
What is going on?

This works fine.
I had selected the wrong output matrix type.
Will try all options before posting message in future

I created a CSV matrix table between two point layers, A to B, limited to 5
nearest points.
This worked and created a nice CSV table I could open in Excel.
Then I created a CSV matrix table between the same layers, but in other
direction B to A, limited to 3 nearest points (as suited the applicati
This is intermittent and unpredictable.
I select some polygons, working from the attribute table
They are properly shown on the screen

Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't

IN QGIS 1.8 I want to create a simple choropleth to show 5 bands for a
range of numeric values
I open Properties /Style for the vector layer and choose Legend Type
'Continuous Colour'
This should allow me to group values in a specified field into meaningful
bands
Unfortunately, the 'classification
In QGIS 1.8 I selected a subset of polygons by attribute from a vector layer
I wanted to save only the selected polygons and delete the rest
So I chose Layer/Save selection as vector file and saved as SHP, The
message box said this was successful, but it did not export any thing. Only
empty files
Hi
I have built a project with some imported text layers and varios other
layers
It started OK but now crashes Q1.8 every time I try to open the project
The system error text file is below and the problem flagged in the error
message relates to "delimitedtextprovider.dll" (in bold)
The project is
A very basic question I know, but I am getting frustrated at not being able
to import data from various sources, even in formats that the user manual
says are OK - e.g. with extensions GRD (GDAL) and E00
Is there a way to work around this? Alternatively, is there a (free or
cheap) data translator
OK, I downloaded datafiles with the GRD extension from the DIVA Web site
(no, I have not installed Diva), which itself takes the fies from various
sources. For example, the 'elevation' (that is, altitude) data is as
follows:
Elevation SRTM30 dataset. CGIAR-SRTM data aggregated to 30 seconds CGIAR
I have just installed QGIS 1.7 on XP and can add vector layers, but not any
GRD raster layer
I just get the message that this ' is not a supported raster
data source.'
It doesn't matter where the GDR file is.
Any help appreciated,
Roy
