A quick question: When using QGIS Dufour how can I freehand draw lines on an
existing
map and save?
I've tried to load and use the freehand editing plugin but with not good
results.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Speaking of co-ordinate plugins, when I tried to use the co-ordinate capture
plugin on my version
of 1.80 I noticed that it had vanished. Using the fetch plugins option did not
show it in the repositories.

Dear List, I tried to download Qgis 1.8 and then 1.6 on a mac but got the
error message gdal missing. On win7 every thing downloads and opens pretty
easily. I am a point and click user so I hope its something easy to miss. Any

I got it to work by downloading to a flash drive. You're probably right about
using admn. commands, I just haven't got to trying that.
I did see "unable to loadQt5.dll etc." during one attempt though.

Micha, Believe it or not since I last posted and before I rechecked the
list I did just that. It works wonderfuly! The file I am contouring contains
magneric readings and plays well with other layers once the crs's are set. I
have some gravity data that is in the same txt format however

Ramon, thanks for the idea of using Raster>conversion> rasterize. Unfortunately
I think that's for vector to raster and raster to vector and gave the message
unsupported file.
The other options in conversion also gave the same message.

clicked on the layer and looked for contour, then went to properties and could

the osg dvd and burned a copy to a dvd. Should I now download a copy of Linux
to an external hard drive and open QGIS from there? The external has 1 terra
byte storage with 500 gigabytes unused space. I
