Thank you

Hi!
I'm trying to get the list from the organizers.
I disagree they were taking it in such a way:
"(sorry, cant do anything about it,
bye-bye’, while we did pay 175 for the workshops...)"
They offered all of us either another workshop or refunding. It's true
though that they
should have asked the QGIS community about this person prior to take a
commitment, but it seems that he
was actually taking the initiative and the organizers can only be
blamed of too much good faith.

BTW, my presentation involved quite a bit of "qgising"

Yep. Sounded promising, went there although I know QGIS already (and
actually us it in our teaching), just to see how others do it, and was a bit
pissed it just was cancelled like that. If I’d brought my computer I almost
could have done it myself....

Let’s to not make it too personal on-list, but just note that ould of course
be that there was a genuine good reason he didn’t turn up. It was handeled
fairly clumsily by the organisers (‘sorry, cant do anything about it,
bye-bye’, while we did pay 175 for the workshops...).

This is bad promotion for QGIS. He could have ask someone to do the
workshop. Opengeo has good material for QGIS that can be used for a
workshop.

There was also a QGIS-Workshop sheduled on tuesday, but unfortunately
the presenter didn't appear and as the result all 40 attendees had to go

Hi,

Do you know any other presentation involving QGIS?

The benchmarking of QGIS Map Server is another one.

I think FOSS4G will publish the presentation material later on for us.

Hello

My problems of qgis segfault ( which occured when resizing qgis main
window with qgis 1.4 on ubuntu 10.04 and Debian Squeeze)
are solved now thanks to the kind messages sent by Noli Sicad and Pierre
Chevallier

In both cases, the solution was to use a 1.5 version instead of a 1.4
version

For Debian squeeze, i used the repository and notes given by Nicolo
Rigacci i.e :
- removing (and purge) of the previously installed qgis version;
- adding of this repository in /etc/apt/sources.list :
          deb http://debian.gfoss.it/ squeeze main
- adding of the repository key to apt keys:
          wget -O - http://debian.gfoss.it/debian-gfoss.key | apt-key add -
- refresh of the repository list :
          apt-get update
- installation of qgis :
          apt-get install qgis

then i obtained a 1.5 Qgis version which has no more segfault problem
while resizing the main qgis window

Many thanks to everybody and to the Qgis Developing Team !

Kind regards

DBL
