Nope, The images are georeferenced but if they were truly orthorectified, you would not see any building walls, just the roofs when in 2D mode. Some of the distortion has probably been removed but I would not use google earth for anything that need accurate measurements. Also, that would

When I bring up my Google layers plugin for a back ground layer the map doesn’t scale to the area I’m working with it just stays at the world level in a ribbon behind the layer I’m working on. The rest of the open layers seem to not want to render either…. any ideas what I’ve messed up?

Andre is right - qgis (like other gis systems too) cannot display points, lines and polygons in one layer. It has to be either points or lines or polygons. In a kml-file this is no problem. So if you try to load a kml-file with points, lines and polygons, qgis just loads the first object (and
