Hello,
Whenever I open up a previous project that includes a Google map, my
browser opens up a window with a Google Earth Engine Authentication
message. I have to reauthenticate each time in order to proceed. Once I do
that, I need to use the authentication code in a pop-up QGIS window in
order
Hi,
Thank Charles, this is interesting. Unless I am mistaken thought, the
google Earth engine will not give me the images normally seen on Google
Earth as those are proprietary data that we cannot normally use. Google
Earth engine (unless I am mistaken) gives us what is normally openly
Not quite the same as the plugins/ process you mentioned, but you use this
plugin to integrate the GEE python API in QGIS:

I've never tried what you are asking, but it's probably where I would start.

Hi,
Is there a plugin similar to quickmap, or a method that can permit us to
download the historical imagery from Google Earth? The default (latest) image
for my region is 2012 but I would need to look at 2011.
If worse comes to worse, I know I can georeference the saved images from Google
Nope,
The images are georeferenced but if they were truly orthorectified, you would
not see any building walls, just the roofs when in 2D mode. Some of the
distortion has probably been removed but I would not use google earth for
anything that need accurate measurements. Also, that would

When I bring up my Google layers plugin for a back ground layer the map doesn’t
scale to the area I’m working with it just stays at the world level in a ribbon
behind the layer I’m working on. The rest of the open layers seem to not want
to render either….
any ideas what I’ve messed up?
Hey,
What about using OSM? Is a better choise.
Good Luck.

I know some of you have talked about how to get and use the Google Earth

I agree. I think having mixed geometries per layer can make things a
hell of a lot harder and I would rather have a single geom type per
layer. I used to use MapInfo and it can store different geom types in
one layer, this makes it hard to style (more of a limitation of
MapInfo I admit), hard to
.kml can also be opened easily in QGIS, but editing is not possible.

Not all kml can be opened. I have created some of my own, with links to
external symbols. Qgis won't load that files, and gives no error

Andre is right - qgis (like other gis systems too) cannot display
points, lines and polygons in one layer. It has to be either points or
lines or polygons. In a kml-file this is no problem.
So if you try to load a kml-file with points, lines and polygons, qgis
just loads the first object (and
