I am facing the problem that wehnever trying to use geoprocessing tools like
merge, dissolve, interesect and so on I am having big troubles with invalid
geometries resulting in processing failures of the repective tools. I can
then try to fix these errors with the quite compex algorithm of grass
(v.clean) or manually adjust geometries but both is not ideal and too
time-consuming. In the latests prereleases of QGIS 3 I found the tool "fix
invalid geometries". However this tool also shows errors that it canĀ“t run
with inputs having invalid geometries.

Is there a algorithm that automatically fixes topological errors for users
and/or is it possible that qgis processing tools will be more robust in
handling invalid geometries.

Especially the saga algorithms run even with invalid geometries which I
think is desirable from a user-perspective
