To be honest - I'm not sure if ArcGIS will edit coverages any more (just checked). It will convert to and from but I didn't see anything that indicated edit. I think your best bet is to convert it to a shapefile (or postgis/spatialite) if possible. If memory serves me right you could store a

I have a project with layers imported from Arc Info Coverages (directories). They all appear to be locked from editing. If I select a polygon, list the attributes, and attempt to change them the pencil toggle in not active and no new values can be entered. I have tried other projects which were not
