Hi Philippe In the nightly build, it is possible to have a composer scale bar in km for maps in degrees. The scalebar however only shows the scale near the bottom left of the composer map (the scale is not constant in maps in degrees, as others already noted). Regards, Marco Am 16.04.2013 2

I am the poster of this question and I want to thank all those who took the time to answer it. My problem is not trivial for two reasons: - I work in the Northern Territory (NT), in Australia. The western part of the NT is in UTM zone 52 and the eastern part in UTM zone 53; -

I think the issue here is the need to have a scale bar in feet/meters and as Carlos noted a LatLon grid, in other commercial software you can do this very simple since you can choose the units of the scale bar and the representation of the grid I agree the correct way to do it would be to use a pr

Dear Carlos, I understand that you think the combination is useful, but my point is actually that the scale bar is NOT useful because it is plain wrong, it does not even approximate distances in many places in the map! Try wrapping you head around the fact that the North Pole (a single point of l

What I do is: 1. Start a map with CRS in Lat-Long (EPSG 4326). 2. Create a new printing design and insert the map. This is map 0. 3. Take note about the scale of this map. 4. Return to the working area and change the CRS to UTM 17s (this is my zone - you select your zone) 5. Return to the created
