Hi,
I've tried importing KMZ files from google earth into a project on QGIS (3.6.3
Noosa) but the files don't project in the same location even if i set it to the
project's CRS
what should i do to have the KMZ files projecting in the correct location
systems.

You have to use a compatible CRS such as EPSG:3857 when importing from
Google Earth

No it's not.
kmz as well as kmls containing a mixture of placemarks, lines and
polygons. In order to load kmls in QGIS or use ogr, you should create
separate files for each vector type.

I've found the following solution that works with my fiel, not sure
if it would work in general:
1. Uncompress as if the *.kmz file were a compressed file (may be you
have to rename it to *.zip in windows). You'll get a *.kml file
2. Open the *.kml file with Qgis

very slow and takes about 10 to 15 minutes to load and open. Even after

Not really. KMZ/KML is a simple dataformat not suitable for such large amounts
of data. It eg does not support spatial or other indexing (even if it would,
Google Earth renderering porbbably cannot use the indexes anyway)...
