Hi,
If you use you use the openlayer plugin, make sure "on the fly CRS" is
activated as the plugin will change the project CRS without telling you (look
at the CRS in the lower right corner). OSM layer is always a good place
to start if you want to make sure the data is in the right spot.

IS there a reason why u use your own map background? WHy not ue an open source
map (OSM plugin gives you several)

Another thing to check:
- Is your map file (jpg image) georeferenced?. If not, use Raster -->
Georeferencer --> Georeferencer to do it. You must select the same SRC that
your points are.
Good luck

Hi,
List of things to check:
Are long/lat inverted?
Is your other map in the same CRS? (Coordinate Reference system?) If not, it
can be fixed by making sure you have "CRS on the fly reprojection" activated in
the options. Also make sure that QGIS "ask" for new layers that have no
CRS).

district
I also have an excel file having latitude and longitude of 20 Hospitals in
that district.
So far i have converted that excel file in to tab limited file.
Then i added one layer in QGIS Desktop
