All,
When converting Maps to raster format WGS 84 Geographic (3d) (EPSG4327), raster
layer output after conversion shows only a colored image but not original map
image.

When I use the Raster tools Translate (Convert format) to convert a
georeferenced SRTM elevation raster (in .hgt format) to a tif format, the
georefrenceing is lost (ie the output image has only raster coordinates,
not lat-longs. Even when I specifically enable Target SRS = EPSG:4326.

I have see many messages about Raster -- Contours ! And I am interested to
use this function. But ! Like a dummy, I can't find how to have the RASTER
menu in my QGis 1.4 under Ubuntu 10.4 !
gdal-bin and python-gdal are installed !
What is missing in my config of QGis?

Im new to the list, (this is my first post) surely it would help if in
the ticket you specify the command that you used, where the data files
are (the urls from a public webserver), what the error message was on
windows and what the result was on linux and the contents of any log
files

Today I had the chance of testing the raster tools on windows. Several of them
work
fine, but I had errors with polygonize:
