Hi Robert,
This has been asked before. I think currently this option only redraws
the layer and does not (always) refresh the data. At least not for a
remote layer.
It has been discussed before here:

and here:
I think you hit an old issue:
https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/issues/28282
and

Not sure if I can tackle it, but I can give it a try.
If a core-dev has a clue, please let me know...
I think this should work, as this makes it supereasy to have a 'moving
Hi Robert,
I do not know the answer to your question, but I think you are asking in
the wrong list.
You may have better success on `qgis-developer` (I added it in, so this
is getting cross-posted)

Hi All!
I am trying to understand the behavior of Layer->Render-> Refresh layer at
interval in QGIS
- I sat up a flask rest api which serves a geojson.
- I added the geojson to QGIS via Add Layer->
- a. Protocol HTTP/cloud/etc
- b. Type: HTTP
- c.URI:
Ah yes, thanks! F5 reloads the data for all layers.
But the initial question was why the 'Refresh Layer at Interval' does
not work. I think the re-render works but it does not reload the data.
Can anyone confirm?

I've created a minimal script which generates a random point, more or

If you load that script as a vector layer /Protocol/GeoJSON you will see
one point in The Netherlands.
Upon hitting F5 (menu: View/Refresh), you will see the dot moving
Hi Ayyala,
Since the option is in the tab called "Render" I think it will only
re-render the layer and not reload the data.
I tried this:
- create 3 points in a geojson layer
- set a 2 sec refresh interval on it
- open the geojson file in a text editor and add an extra point
- save geojson
Hello,
I have a shape file as below. I have checked the box "Refresh Layer at
Interval" for 1 second. The layer is not refreshing.
Regards.
