A quick update to note that I've contacted the Land Registry and they've
identified the problem (they have some middle-ware that is eating the
content-type header). A fix is forthcoming but no timeline has been
provided. I'll post an update when it's fixed.

The consensus is that the service is a bit broken. I'll try telling the
Land Registry about it, but based on their dismissive comments on the board
that Thomas linked to, I'm not convinced that'll get anywhere.

What a coincidence! I tried to access the Land Registry wms yesterday as
well - and had no success. (I'm using version 2.0.1 - Dufour running in
Windows XP Pro)
The wms connects OK and gives me a choice of two layers:
Inspire:CP.CadastralParcel
Inspire_common:DEFAULT
Whichever lay

I'm getting the same error here in QGIS and I can load it in Arc.
If I try and load the GetCapabilities in Cadcorp SIS I get the below
message:

This works fine in ArcMap and an OpenLayers client but
