But I think, most of the non-native processing tools need SHP or
GPKG ... but dumping from RAM to SSD is quick

I thought I was the only one who did silly hacks to make a in-memory
copy. My favourite way is to use the "assign projection"

Not sure if this is what you want, but you could try:
- Selecting the desired features;
- Edit > Copy features
- Edit > Paste features as... > Temporary scratch layer
(wording is probably a bit off, since my QGIS is not in English).
