It is with great sadness that I have to advise you of the death of John
Mason shortly before Christmas.
John was QUANTA Chairman immediately prior to Sarah Gilpin, our present
Chairman. He was also a QUANTA Honorary Member.

John Mason was a long serving Quanta member, committee member and Chairman
who donated a lot of time and effort to Quanta, acknowledged by his becoming
an honorary member. Never reluctant to defend his corner, he saw through
reforms, edited some newsletters and worked hard for Quanta even if (as

John was a lovely man. I always remember him telling me stories of his
travels in Ireland not long after he first got married, including the time
he mentioned he was a bit hungry to a guest house owner, and they brought
him into the kitchen for a roast chicken
