just out of interest I tried running a speed test on a Linux laptop, with Firefox, utilising Flashplayer.
I pay for 30 mb/s and the speed test showed a download of 61.45 mb/s with an upload speed of just under 3.98 mb/s.
Being on Virgin, we got a free upgrade some time back to double what we pay for, so the above is pretty accurate. Apparently, later this year, we get another freebie to 100 mb/s and a doubling (plus?) on the upload speeds too.
I don't work for Virgin by the way, just a satisfied customer.
