My first Linux was a pain, but my present Mandrake 9.1 system solved the old problems I had with dual sound cards, USB scanner, etc. all by itself. It dual-boots with M$ W98, which is almost only used for QPC. The current Mandrake is 9.2, and version 10 is cooking, and I am in no hurry to update. The Q-40 Linux installation was nearly as good ('ShoeString' Linux is somewhat 'Red-Hat' -ish I think). It is just possible that some folks may hesitate when confronted with UQLX as a 'tar-ball', and the 'READ-ME' assumes more knowledge and jargon than I possess, but I won in the end. So, with many thanks to Graf, Zidlicky, Kiglus, Merz, Tebby and all, I can run 2 types of QL in assorted colors on both PC and Q40. I still think my SmSq SGC/Aurora is quite neat, too. Alex.
