I just recently
installed qmail and followed the how-to on life w/ qmail. I am at the part
where i start it for the first time, and i am getting the following error

since most of my
problems are with supervise, is there a way I can disable that? and if
so..how do i do it?
is the root of your problems.
Perhaps you can
post to the list the troubles you are having, along with relevant
logs and we can help you work through them.

OK..even with the
other thing going on w/ supervise, it appears that something is working..but now
i have this error message. I checked to see the control/locals and
everything else had the proper domain info in there...but here is what it's
saying:
Hi. This is the qmail-send program at
OK..no longer
getting the control/locals error. When i send a test email to the dummy
test user ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) i don't get an
mail-daemon message back, but no mail shows up anywhere. Here's part of
the log from /var/qmail/log:
@40003a4c99bb144389c4 starting delivery 1: msg 40345
I got all
this...but where is the mail going? It didn't show up in any directories I
have. Does this piece of the log below show it's working? I can mail
out of qmail no prob...just when it comes in i get
probs..

OKi finally got everything running..thanks to all that helped.

reply, it changes things to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
OK..here's what's
going on:
I host my domain,
domain.com.
It's aliased
as: me.otherdomain.com.
In qmail
control...all the files only have domain.com, including: me, locals,
defaultdomain/host, etc..
I send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] comes out fine. I can
reply...but the person on
there is a list archive for BIND/DNS at:
http://www.isc.org/ml-archives/bind-users/
ALso on there you can join the list, which is a crossover to the newsgroup:
comp.protocols.dns.bind (i think that is what it's called).
As for the MX record. The MX record is what tells the world to send mail to
I am getting the following all of a sudden. My control files all have that
domain in them.
Here is what I'm getting. This is a normal user account.
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
x.x.x.x does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 554 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: Recipient address
rejected: Relay access denied
OK...i managed to
stop the messages getting kicked back (for now).
Now when I send a
message from anywhere other than my machine...it disappears into limbo. If
i use qmail-inject to test a message, it shows up w/no problem. I cannot
get the mail from outside my computer tho.
