I've solved by qmail-pw2u problem -it was the obvious requirement of needing an input file. However, I still have found the instructions for how to replace /bin/mail with the appropriate qmail equivalent. Any suggestions whould be helpful. thanks Michael Slade [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks to everyone for their help! I did have the correct entry in .qmail (./Maildir/). My problem turned out to be that while I had manually created Maildir, I had not created the subdirectories. Using makemaildir to create the Maildir directory tree worked fine. thanks again Michael Slade
