Neil

hi,
this is slightly off topic but
I use debian and I have always had mailx installed due to logrotate
depending on it. So with new security holes in mailx I was wondering what it
did and whether qmail-inject or something could do it instead (maybe with a
wrapper)?
thanks

To me, that To: field whose address must surely have come from the
envelope sender, at least shows that the message arrived at iname.net
with the correct envelope sender. But I'm willing to bet a modest
amount that iname.net mangled the envelope recipient of the bounce

hi
I am doing another qmail install and this time I have a /supervise directory
for dnscache, so I thought it would make sense to run qmail from there, I am
following lwq (most of the time). So I was wondering if anyone had already
adapted the lwq start up script to do this, and is it a case of
thanks Dave,
I was on the right lines, I just didnt know any thing about svc.
once the links are created to /service it will start automatically on boot
up,
but if it had been stopped before shutdown (svc -d) - it will need to be
'svc -u' ed on bootup? so qmail(in init.d) should still be linked
when I try to run qmail start after installing (the lwq way)
I get a lot of errors:
multilog: fatal: unable to switch to current directory: access denied
so I am assuming that a log directory hasnt got the right permissions or
ownership, my /var/log/qmail directory is owned by qmaill, so

The dates are in TAI64N format. Pipe the log through `tai64nlocal` to
convert
them to human-readable format.
can I get them stored 'human-readable'?
my /var/log/qmail is filling up with:
2000-11-27 20:29:02.459841500
PATH=/var/qmail/bin:/var/qmail/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin
got it working - I had commented out the old qmail line with the " and ' in
made a new one using:
qmail-start ./Mailbox
then it got onfused by the commenting out part way through a command - I
presume the \ mean that the command continues on the nex line?
many thanks

I have started seting up qmail and have everything working apart from the
aliases for root, postmaster, etc and smtp (which i havent started on yet)
everything is installed in its default place ie /var/qmail/
in /var/qmail/alias I have done 'touch .qmail-root' and then 'chmod 644
.qmail-root'
now that I have symbolic links in /var/spool/mail
pointing to the /home/user/Mailbox, finger gives 'finger:
/var/spool/mail/user: Permission denied'
is there any way aroiund this error?
many thanks

without telling me - arg!
hopefully - no error messages is a good sign
