I find some of the error messages from qmail to be quite terse. This one perplexed me this morning: Jan 9 11:19:14 nemeton qmail: 947377154.120073 delivery 9: deferral: Unable_to_chdir_to_maildir._(#4.2.1)/ In this case I'd left a domain listed in 'locals' when I added it to virtualdomains and unfortunately the user name I tested with was in /etc/passwd but didn't have a maildir as required for default delivery. Providing the full pathname in the log message would have let me spot this quickly. In general I would also like to see the value of errno for errors from system calls. BTW for anyone interested Russ Nelson and John Levine's qmail-lint did pick this error up before I undertook much surgery on the qmail source to make the error message more informative. Thanks guys!
