Hello list members,

I've recently changed over from vmailmgr to vpopmail and am using qmailadmin to administer my virtual domains and mailing lists. Everything seems to be working well with the exception of one "gotcha".

I have one server with RedHat 7.1 installed and another with RedHat 8.0 installed and am using qmail-1.03, vpopmail-5.2.1, autorespond-2.0.2, ezmlm-0.53+idx-0.40 and qmailadmin-1.0.6 on both of them.

During the "configure" phase of the build I see that both systems recognize ezmlm with the idx patch by this line from the configure output: "check for ezmlm-idx... yes".

After the make is performed I end up with a qmailadmin installation that, on RedHat 7.1, works with support for ezmlm-idx, but on RedHat 8.0 with support for ezmlm only. This is evidenced by the qmailadmin program's output when selecting "New Mailing List": on RedHat 8.0 there are only four list options while on the RedHat 7.1 build there are thirty six list options plus an option for SQL support.

When I look at the make output it seem almost as if the two versions of RedHat are using _opposite_ build settings. Finally, to get the make to work successfully with ezmlm-idx support on RedHat 8.0 I used the config.h file generated by the RedHat 7.1 configure script.

I'm not a C programmer so this took me almost a week (off and on) to track down. There is no mention of it on this or any of the other lists.

Has anyone else seen anything like this?

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone,
Mike Wright
