WIll it be possible that Outlook gets timeout while downloading email /
waiting your server to reply? Try to increase the timeout period to,
say, 5 minutes and see if it works better.

I have a working toaster and have dns set
to;
webmail.domain.com for webmail
(squirrel)
mail.domain.com for smtp and POP
SMTP and POP works fine although i notice that
sometimes in the morning outlook cant find the mail.domain.com and sometimes i
need to restart my toaster
