Dear Chandran,
can't you give us an address of your server to test the connection? It's nearly
impossible to help with that few information.

permanently store the security certificate.

I'm not seeing any problem from the information you've given us.
Can you show the warning message like you did in the first post of this
thread?
Is it possible that this client's name resolution is giving the IP
address of a different host?

Eric,
Im just catching the end of this thread but I have seen some antivirus
and firewall protection combos kill some
mail authentication methods.
Just for time being shutdown these apps to see if this is where the
issue lies.
It has all the symptoms!
Thanks

Hi All,
I have tried all authentication and which you all mentioned above. but
still having the issue to configure or it's asking username and password
continuously.
My config below fyr.
My dovecot migration version below
dovecot-2.0.17-2.qtp
My dovecot.conf file is below
listen = *
!include
I don't see any problem with this configuration.
Are you able to access via webmail? If so then your problem isn't with
dovecot.
You tried STARTTLS with Normal Password? You should get a warning
from TBird that it cannot verify the server's certificate. Have you seen
this warning message?
Hi Eric,
I tried this settings but i did not get any warning message and instead of
getting warning message showing username and password authentication
contnuously.

What are you looking at, Max?
STARTTLS is the recommended setting.
Also, so long as you have STARTTLS, you can use PLAIN or LOGIN as
authentication options. Encrypted Password authentication is typically
cram-md5, which we're expecting to deprecate in the future.

Ah, yes I see what you're talking about. That should be the full e mail
address. I have had trouble with the SSL and Authentication methods
complaining often with Thunderbird and wouldn't rule if you change the
username and still have problems.
