About a month ago I replaced our old QmailToaster-based spam filters
with the latest stuff.
The old systems were not ideally configured:
- no DNS blacklist lookups
- no URI blacklist lookups
- no DCC, Razor, Pyzor
- no automated SpamAssassin rule updates
- no spamdyke
They were basically just ClamAV and SpamAssassin with bayes and stock
rules plus some custom rules that I never touched because they were
put in place by a predecessor and I didn't want to break anything.
Despite these deficiencies the old systems were so much better than
nothing.
The new systems have all the features listed above enabled.
This morning I opened my mailbox and discovered that I received -zero-
spam over the weekend. First time in years. My company email address
has existed for at least 10 years and I've used it in all kinds of
online accounts, mailing list postings, etc.
