yes I guess we need to have a compilable build and also it should be
able to build a binary distribution.

supposed to be capable of building the release candidtates(so an
alternative to a svn checkout) or is it purely the source required for
compilation?
I have made the changes to allow the releases to be built but if this
is our
Marting we need to copy the resources dir to the source tree.
