Enclosed is a response from the nicest lady in the world. I strong
encourage Mrs Bullard to pursue the suggestions.

I wish the best for the parents, the family and the son.
Best Wishes

You are always welcome to direct people here and I will try to help them
but I really should hear directly from them so that they don't feel they are
being intruded on.

Through the local NSCIA Chapter, the family might find physicians who have
experience with SCI.

The mom can find lots of information at spinalcord.org, including list of
Model SCI Care Systems and CARF Accredited programs. Unfortunately, neither
of these appear to exist in Oklahoma but she could contact any one of
those places out of state and seek information or get admission for her son
at
one of these hospitals.

The reason that the Model SCI Care System was created was because spinal
cord injury is so complex that it needs to be treated by people who have
expertise in the field. If this family feels they are not getting the care
that is needed, they should definitely seek it out. If they are not able to go
out of state for care, minimally, their physician may find consultation
and direction through the Model System, or the physician could consult

Based on what the mom wrote, in my non-medical opinion, she should
definitely read about autonomic dysreflexia which she can find at

I hope this is of some help. At 19, this young man should be thinking
about getting on with his life, not being sick and spending more time in
hospitals.

Sincerely,

Well, I'm new to the SCI club. My 19 yr. old son had a M VA 4-10-10 that
left him with a c 6-7. The prob is we have been sick from day 1. After 20
weeks in ICU 4 with rehab that we could not do because sick all the time. We
got home late Aug.of 2010 and been back to hospital 95% of the time. In the
last month we have been home 3-4 days.Well this past fri. we were at OU
hospital and they told me theres nothing rong with him other then drug
withdrows.............

We went in this time as for all the past : 102.6 temp, vometing, sweating,
pain, UTI, not eatting . OU called back to tell me he has staff again #3
for that one.

I just don't know were to turn there is no place in ok. That I have found
