Hi Tammie Lou,
My right leg was removed from the hip bone, and then the pelvic bone was filed down at the bottom to help widen the pressure point when I sit up on it. if you look at the Amputee Sling at http://www.max-ability.com/productlist.asp?Action=""> you'll get a good idea of what I'm usi
Hello again Dave
How much of your leg did you have to have removed? I'm trying to figure
out, from the sling that I have how you would be able to maneuver it, I hope I
can help you problem solve.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the feedback. I'm looking at anything that I can find now so that I will be able to sit with better posture while up on my chair seat. This info really helps.

Hi Tammie Lou,
It makes perfect sense. This is where I run into problems. I had my right leg removed in '89 and sit on a 'custom formed' seat, and when I try to shift enough to remove the sling I lose my center of balance enough to effect my sitting posture. I have always used a standing pivo

Greg,
Make sure you're putting the hooks on the inside rather than outside of you legs, this will help if you're not.

I had to pay part of my lift myself because the insurance companies would
only pay for a lesser lift that I did not want.

Vocational Rehab paid for my overhead lift and my remote

getting evaluated they will help , depending on your states Vocational

Dave,
The nylon sling that I use from Surehands does not go underneath your
bottom. Two straps go underneath your legs and the top wraps around your
chest so you do not have to wiggle the sling out from underneath your
bottom.

I always take the sling off after I get up into my chair and it's
pretty easy to do. I am 5'10" and my attendant is about 5'2" and she can
do it pretty easily. She just leans me all the way forward and slips it
down behind my back and tucks it under my butt as much as she can then you
