I understand that to qualify for the £2,000 allowance, you must have
owned the car for 12 months & it must have a current MOT. So that
scuppers most plans to sell something on "project" cars & Mot
failures, so the new owner can qualify for the allowance.

Firstly you will have need to have owned the car for at least one year
(and proove it!) , so that blows the selling of your car to someone
else to make a quick profit. [1]
£1000 will be funded by the government and £1000 by the car company.

also read stats to state that hybrids/electrics were no less harmful
to the environment than an average car without prejudice to miles

To those who want to do the ultimate recycle. I wanted a throttle cable

I should think the garages will try to sell them on to people who want to
save 2k ! Guess there will be a requirement to scrap them in order to get
the 2k off the new car. It's not green at all.

Does anyone out there have a spare grommet/bung thing that carries the brake

Hi,
I was just talking to a friend whos garage he works in takes part
in this scheme, He told me they just get recycled, how ever some times
they do go through them for parts for their own use, he managed to get
some nice alloys out of it and some parts for his car.
But they arent meant to ta

Not at all green.
Cars scrapped.
The idea is to sell new cars.
If the second hand ones can be got rid of, then you will have to buy new.

Hi Hamish,
Sorry not to be of any help to you, but the engine in the Xtreme was from a
Sierra 2.0lt Ghia, a fuel injected Pinto engine ( I and I suspect Steve,
wish it were a 2.0lt DOHC !!!) I hope some one has some answers for you.
See you at Stoneleigh?

Following on the lines of where will all the second hand parts go with the
budget announcement, does anyone happen to have a set of injectors for a 92
Sierra GT 2.0 DOHC engine sitting around with which they would be prepared to
part - yes I know they are for my Beauford but, facing reality, thi
Where are all the part exchange cars going to go ?

Price will go up? Maybe That's if the saving is real ie If I go into a
dealer and negotiate a deal for 7.5k for a new car, then say Oh I have an
old trade in, will I then get it for 5.5k? I suspect not. Can i buy a new
kit car and get 2k off by trading in an old banger? That would be a deal!
So, anyone got any thoughts on how this £2000 trade-in announced in
todays budget will impact kit-car sales and prices? Many older than
10-years old seem to go for less than £2000 on Ebay, particularly
'project cars'.

Thanks for all of the advice - I do drive a nice soft eurobox most
