Good point, never thought that I could remove the handbrake
mechanism. I'll have a look and see if I can remove and replace with
standard shoes.
Craig, at least I have a part number NOT to buy, so that is helpful.
Thanks,
Ian

Is the Ford part still available?

They will all be pattern parts and the quality of the swirl pot may be
very variable.
Look at the difference between the Ford ones and the pattern ones on my
web site.

You can get sone battery clamps that have bolt posts to the side

need to hang in to the old one.

Hi Jim,
That's correct the immobiliser doesn't need to be de-activated, but it doesn't
set automatically, and I hadn't activated it (will always remember it now
though). I see what you are saying about the alarm, once set it would only
power the LED (as you say about 0.02A), and the aerial (does

Just been looking at a new battery for the project coupe. Seems the
'093' with screw terminals is on it's way out and the '063' with round
posts is the replacement. Anyone think it's worth hanging onto the
093 type? Seems there is more choice in the 063's. Any battery
recommendations?
I don;t know about Sierras but on other Fords replacement brake shoes
often come without the handbrake mechanism attached, you are expected to
take it off the old shoes.
Often this involves forcefully removing a spring clip and fitting a
replacement supplied with the new shoes.

What i'm saying is that the immobiliser doesn't need to be deactivated
when the ignition is off so it shouldn't be supplying any power to the
relay in that condition.
I also don't understand the alarm power, why would it need 0.07 amps
while set and nothing with it unset.
The LED would be 0.0
Hi Jim,
When the immobiliser is de-activated (ie when the car is required to be driven)
a relay is powered which then connects vital circuits. Of course once the
engine is started the 0.2A drain caused by this relay is of no consequence -

There no reason why the immobiliser would need

Hiya
Sort of - the XR2 rack has a shorter lock to lock because of the wider
wheels fouling the bodywork, whereas the standard rack has half a turn
more.
Basically - the standard rack will work on a 2+2, and (AFAIK) will
give a slightly better turning circle. I have the standard rack on my
car.

Both are basically the same! ExplanationThe ratios are the same, but
some people think thay are different ratio, because they are quoted as
different turns lock to lock
eg XR2 quoted as 3.0 turns lock to lock
standard quoted as 3.5 turns lock to lock.n.b. Those aren't the
