Hi Steve, There's nothing special about that diode, it only stops the current flowing in reverse through the alternator warning light. I just use 1N4001 diode but put them in series with the blue alternator warning light wiring inside the car on the back of the instrument cluster. Ford put them

After getting another flat battery on my Saloon, I really need to replace the exciter diode that plug into the wiring from the alternator with the proper diode. The original one fell apart and was replaced with the best option I could find in Maplin, but this has failed twice. Can anyone help
