Sounds more like an electrical problem. Check the switch function and
wiring first.

The other common thing is that a wire has broken where it goes between the
door and the body.
They get flexed every time the door is opened and normal car wire isn't
really up to that.
Even worse if there is an inline joint at that point.
Try operating the window while wiggling the wires where
