Thank you for your helpful and interesting replies. It looks that my next
step is a visit to Halfords for a can of spray. One suggestion was to take
the door cards off and have a look for rust on the cables. They , perhaps
could do with a spray WD40 but how do I remove the door

The H4S was an evolution of the H4 that the Sampson's developed. It had
modified front and rear bumpers and I believe that was all that changed. I
only every saw the car once many years ago at the Donnington show possibly
2002/3. I think the interest was low and it was never productionise
I would agree with Martin in the use of spray, when my windows were sluggish I
removed the door cards and sprayed silicone spray into the runners/ guides and
did the same on the door seals where the glass touches.
