Although I have a life long interest in flight and space travel, if I was
at the quiz, I'd have said 'chimp'!

'tis true. Frustratingly I knew all of that already, even the height of the
Karman line!
What I didn't factor in, was my poor listening skills. I heard the standard
pub quiz question "first animal to orbit the earth" not the* actual*
question which was "first mammal in space".
