These days cars have to be type approved for tow bars. If the manufacturer doesn't approve the car for a towbar then you can never install one. An example of this is the Mini Cooper S which I suspect wasn't type approved because of the position of the exhausts meaning it wouldn't be practical. I

Hi All, Thanks for all the replies, most appreciated. I have the weights from the H4 build manual (which are slighlty less than the donor fiesta by the way) so I will use those and mark the towing weight as N/A. I don't have a tow bar so hopefully VOSA can't fail me for not having a weight there

Elliot, I was tested on the IVA just under 1 year ago (on an xtreme), this detail was not required on the plate at the time, but I recall I was not required to give a weight as I had no towbar so this was marked as N/A. I don't have the application, but my report from IVA simply has NO in the tow
