Pretty sure they were 36k or 3 years but the quality of the belts has improved
greatly since the 80s and 90s. However working on the basis that if the belt
snaps you will have valve damage it's best to do them regularly.

I was told to change the belt every 30,000 miles or 3 years depending which
one you reach first.
As for changing the belt, the Ford garage I use just lever the engine over a
bit to get the bottom cover off.
That's what I told them to do as the Stourbridge lot did the same.

I managed to replace it on my previous saloon without removing the engine by
getting the cover off from top and below by raising then lowering the
engine, and similar with the belt. - Bit of a wriggle but was possible.

I did not know that either - found out the hard way - - vales bent etc..
