Sorry for my absence. I have been lost in Factorio for many months! Not on
this laptop however. Anyway I no longer have cursor lag or sound and video
problems, but I have no idea why. It must have been an update. I consider
this SOLVED.

Thanks for the tip on /boo/efi/EFI/qubes. I will remember that. I am still
reading logs and have not found anything blatantly relevant yet. Still
