Perfect. That does exactly as needed. Thanks very much. And yes my days
should run from 0 to 365, just a typo.
Regarding predictions, yes I just found an error and one of my variables
(X2) was also varying. I thought I had kept them all constant. Sorry about
that.

Hi,
I am trying to use cyclic splines in gamm4 to model year day. I have data
running from say day 6 to day 300 but I want to specify the outer limits of
the data are at 0 and 366. I dont want to fix the inner position of the
knots however (I allow for a total of 5 knots). Is there a way to do
Thanks Scott,
That does help to clarify things.
So if a covariate is highly skewed, extreme values will be more influential.
And this can be reduced through a transformation (which can be justified) or
through other techniques (e.g. bootstrapping).
Cheers

Thanks for the responses. I am going to try modelling the binomial data with
a covariate representing the previous value and see if that's sufficient.
I haven't used INLA, I have some experience with JAGs but not sure where to
start with modelling temporal structures there. I need to model both
Dear ecology mailing list,
I am trying to model some binomial data (0/1) as a function of sex (0/1) and
DistanceToFeature (continuous km’s) with an interaction between the two. My
data is nested and I therefore want to include a random intercept for
InidividualID and within that I want to include
