let them flow from the location of the seed source via the flowpath
downhill, and deposit a certain percentage of seeds depending on the slope.

Try to set the scaling in geoCorrection() to FALSE to get meters. (This is the
default in the new version of gdistance, which will be on CRAN shortly.) See
