I think you can also use the spplot command. It is not present in the
gstat package but in the sp package. The most recent version of gstat
(0.9-34) needs sp present, so I think you already have this package.

I am using R to create a continuous surface with the krig.image command. My
only problem is that my data points do not encompass the full extent of the
area that I am trying to map. Is there a way to force krig.image to
extrapolate just a little beyond the range of the data points?
