hi, i've compiled rgdal on mac osx 10.4.7 using this powerfool packages at this site : look for "gdal-framework"
you can compile rgdal from command line , you must specify where is gdal-config (R CMD install --with-gdal-config=/path-to-gdal-config /path/to/- rgdal.tar.gz) Massimo.
