Thanks for your reply. Tried the latest 7.5 beta firmware, still no luck. 30cm (12 in) from the access point, 60% signal strength. Move away 1 meter, signal strength 30%. I will take this back for a replacement or a repair. Thanks, Serban -- serbans

FYI, I did a test where I did a factory reset and set up networking with my SSID not hidden, and everything worked as expected. Updated the bug report with the new info. Seems to clearly indicate that the hidden SSID on initial networking setup was what triggered the bug. -- kmr
