Just tried this for myself and oddly, the same thing is happening.
However, the first time I tried it, the favorite went straight in
without problem.
Now it just won't do it. I'm wondering if it's because the remote server
is timing out.

I think a lot of stations may be switching over to HTTPS because of the
incompatibility with Chrome if they try and embed in a website already
with SSL.
The wiser ones would keep both going, but others are just clueless and
think switching over will solve all their problems.

It's my belief that the mp3 stream is available internationally and has
no mechanism for geolocking to the UK.
As a result, they've blocked all programmes where they've not got
international broadcasting rights to.

The BBC have made it clear the SHOUTcast streams are a mere "fallback".
If they become overloaded by demand, there won't be the same priority to
get them fixed as their main Flash/HLS streams, if THEY were to go down.

I'm not too sure what's up there, but in the meantime, you could use the
BBC radio streams available in the RadioFeeds UK & Ireland app
(available from the App Gallery).
The mp3 streams should be working there.
