"Can't open file" usually means the plugin is not working or transcoding
is not set up- cache would have no effect in this case.

Did the plugin ever work ? has it suddenly stopped ? What sort of
player ? Can you play ordinary AAC streams

error "this stream not available ...". BBC Listen Again doesn't seem to

and connected to LMS. The same on my PC.
It's a different message to the "no longer available" one; it says
"content blocked" as if outside UK. But it only occurs when the station
is playing content; not the continuous promo.
It's my belief that the mp3 stream is available internationally and has
no mechanism for geolocking to the UK.
As a result, they've blocked all programmes where they've not got
international broadcasting rights to.

There's another thread about this in "3rd Party Software" and it seems
that changes at the BBC have now progressed such that the R1/R1X/R2/R6
AAC streams can't now be found. We probably need to wait for the BBC to
finish all the ch
Currently the iPlayer LMS plugin is not playing live streams for BBC
R1/1X/R2 & 6Music. It can get all stations on-demand streams. You have
to wait until the programme you want to listen to has finished before
you can listen to it!

Hi, I have been having the same problem & thought I would check to see
if anyone had started a thread. I have tried all of the options for the
Triode plugin. Yesterday strangely enough it did work intermittently but
today not at all. The connection seems to try to connect the stream
using aac but
I tried using the browser player and I can see the stream info there. R4
shows AAC R1 tries AAC then MP3. I am also now getting can't open file
for r1 and r2 instead of the voice announcement.
So maybe its BBC problem? Can someone check please.

Yes, the BBC don't stream wma any more. It's covered by Triode's
iPlayer. Just switch to aac.

Many of these questions have already been answered at beginnng of Nov
when BBC made the announcement stopping WMA service and killing program
info on RSS feeds.
The stopping of WMA at end of Dec 21014 will affect more users more
significantly that killing the feeds. From user feedback BBC seem

RADIO applet by Triode. At the moment I have no problems with BBC

I'm getting "Failed To Parse" errors on virtually all my feeds from the
BBC and their iPlayer services now, not just legacy / historical
programmes. It used to be as close to 100% reliable as was feasible

In all honestly the alternatives are well worth while and much better
than the official app anyway.
I'm a fan of both Orange Squeeze but not is a paid app, well worth the
money IMO

Playing live radio is a BBCiPlayer plugin issue not a BBCiPlayerExtra
plugin issue.
In the case of Radio4 Extra live being initiated from BBCiPlayer plugin
I think if the preference is AAC live or WMA - then the BBC supplies the
wrong URL to the plugin.
The WMA R4 Extra URL is still the R7 URL

I cannot get BBC Radio 4 Extra to play with a Squeezebox Radio via SBS
7.5.x running on a QNAP NAS box.
I
Uninstalled/re-installed both iplayer and iplayer extras, and still no
joy. If I just go on bbc iplayer, and select listen live, Radio4 Extra
won't play either.

OK - I now can reproduce the problem - it is Squeezeplay related. I
just testedusing Web and SB3.

Enabled just WMA, and that didn't work either. Funny thing is though, if
I go through the process of selecting a program in iplayer extras,
through the web interface, it starts playing, but I can't select a
program through the radio itself.

Can you just enable WMA so disable all the AAC options.
Does the problem with all programs accessed from any of the Extras
menus or is it limited to a few specific menus ?

What version of BBC iPlayer installed ? V1.1.21
What iPlayer preferences are set - AAC , WMA etc. WMA and AAC native.
What version of BBC iPlayer Extras installed ? V1.3
