I suspect 48kbps vs 32kbps is a cost issue.

It does work on Squeezebox.

I think the mysqueezebox problem is due to the LMS bug with two

Another thought.
http may work over https if the stream is being played direct by player
(i.e. player not "proxied" by LMS) and player looks at stream's MIME
(audio/acc) rather than LMS slimproto format .
I have "proxied" enabled for the player to avoid this situation.

This happens in Slim::Music::Info::setContType
This means my suggested fix is
1. Add a new routine into Slim::Schema.pm
Code:
sub updateContentTypeCache {

Bug 15779 was covered by about a dozen commits around "Optimize
performance of statusQuery" in early March 2010. I'd say it wasn't a
bug, but rather what we'd call a story or task nowadays. But bugzilla
didn't know that concept yet.
Github's search sucks. It would only show four commits:
If the Bug 15779 cache access is commented out then the second cache
access further down also returns MP3.

There is a problem in LMS - it determines the types as MP3 initially and
l;ater updates it to AAC but the cache is not updated.
The stream plays OK if initial checking the cache for contenttype is
commented out (code in red) - in file Slim/Schema.pm
Proper fix would be to ensure cache is updated

LMS gets cinfused and thinks it is an MP3 stream and since all SB player
can play native MP3 - each player tries to play it as MP3 but can't find
the sync blocks to start the MP3
Code:
20-03-13 17:29:25.3546] Slim::Player::StreamingController::_setStreamingState
It is an AAC stream in http/ADTS format The stream has a MIME as
audio/aac but extension of mp3 so there may be some confusion in LMS -
need to look at some logs. Mplayer can't play it but ffplay can but
that maybe due to https.
