Well, the problem regarding this theory is that there are cases where
the alarm is not played at all or for such a short time that it's
indeed not audible, especially if the fade
Yeah, let's just not assume the obvious if anything else works like a
charm.

There is of course also your local network (wireless / Ethernet) and
your internet connection that comes into play. If one of those is not
functioning properly then that can influence the alarms. For example,
if your alarm is playing the backup sounds (dont know how to call
it) then it could po
I run a local server that is on a UPS and is always on. I have to agree
with other posts that the alarm is not 100% reliable. I get the
selected sound, or the backup noise reliably probably 95+% of the time.
The sound volume and fade-in sometimes work and sometimes don't, but I
get a noise that

Maybe "working" is also a matter of definition. Some people claim the
alarm is fine if the backup alarm wakes them up.
If you expect the alarm to fade softly in exactly at the defined time,
play the programmed internet station for the programmed time, then the
reliability is like 5% or less.
Most
Same here. Local SBS and Radio's alarm is spot on.
I can imagine many people having issues with the Radio but in most
cases these are related to using mySB.com. The Radio has attracted a
different type of users to the Squeezebox family. I guess most Radio
users bought it as an Internet Radio as

The alarm is not reliable. For over a year, it has exhibited various
problems, which change randomly over time, as software updates are
released.
Logitech has not fixed the problem, which stems largely from the poor
design, which implements alarms as a client-server task, requiring
interactions
Creating a separate genre is a quick easy fix for separating music
libraries. This assumes that your daughter doesn't care about labeling
genres on her music.
I did this for my brother and his wife's music.

I have the SB Radio since a couple of days but so far the alarms did a
very good job. I suspect it will continue to be because the alarms
depend greatly on SBS and it has been working on my Boom flawlessly.
SBS only supports one music library.
You could separate your and her music by using playli
Thanks, that's helpful.

I can answer your first question - if you are running SBS on a server
the alarm is reliable (i.e. always wakes you up). Or at least has
been for me. If you are trying to use a radio stream sometimes this is
replaced by a system noise (awful) which, with a bit of hacking can be
changed. However
I am a reasonably happy Touch owner and have SBS running on a NAS. I am
thinking about buying a Radio for my daughter. She will want to use it
as an alarm as well as playing music. I have a couple of questions.
1. Is the alarm reliable with SBS? I have had a brief skim through the
forum and apprec
