You can use the Squeezebox Radio to connect to a stereo, you just need the right cable to get you RCA out from the headphone jack. The sound quality will be fine. It is the cheapest option at the moment at < $180, so unless you could find a receiver or classic on ebay it seems like a good way to

Hi there, I was going to set my parents up with a Squeezebox Receiver for christmas, as my mom is getting an iPod Touch, and I was going to set her up with iPeng to play all of her music across the house (I have it and love that solution). However, it seems as though the receiver can no longer be
