Mogeneration are looking for a mid to senior level developer to help us build out our mobile publishing platform Oomph. You will also get the chance to work on high profile client projects with some of the best mobile developers in Australia.
Oomph is a server side platform that provides iPad, iPhone & Android devices with content, and integrates into Apple's In App Purchasing system & other payment gateways. Australia's top magazines & national newspaper are published using Oomph. As we are a small company, you will have the chance to get involved across all of the development lifecycle, and directly influence our products & processes. Required We consider the following skills essential to this position: * Experience with Ruby & Rails, as well as the common tools used in Rails apps. * JavaScript knowledge, including frameworks such as jQuery. * Solid technical chops; problem solving, good use of abstraction, etc. * Source code control using Git. * Broad knowledge of internet technologies such as HTTP, REST, XHTML/CSS, JSON. Solid developers with a background in other areas who are passionate about mobile development will also be considered. Desirable The following skills are nice to have, but not essential. * Experience with high-scale Rails apps, CDNs, etc. * "Agile" development experience. * Experience with TDD, BDD or automated specification testing. * Multi-language experience, using languages such as Scala, Java, Ruby, Haskell or C++. * Mobile web application (msite) experience. * Interested in functional programming techniques. * Development experience on Linux & Mac OS X. * EngineYard, AWS, EC2, S3 experience. * Open source contributions. Location The position is full time. You will be working out of our Brisbane office, though we offer work from home where circumstances fit.
