These fire roads and singletrack are what I had the bike specifically built
for 10 years ago. I used to live up there, and rode them at least once a
week. My MTB (B'stone MB-2) was too tough, my road bike (Specialized
Allez) wasn't tough enough. Enter Rivendell and the
Great pictures. Those trails look really nice, there is hardly any
erosion on them. Just out of curiosity, why are there no trees on
those hills? Is that the natural state or has it previously been
logged?

Rob, that's just what I was thinking... new fork. The Ram I found has
some paint scratches so I was planning on painting it this winter
after I finish building my custom Randonneur that I finally have all

As in my other post, that is shockingly close to the exact opposite of
my situation. I would definately check the rake on the fork, and or
any other signs of change in the fork from original. This could be a
really good reason to call Tom Matchak and get one of his forks made
up.

I feel your pain with this one.
On my Roadeo the front brake pads are at the bottom of the slots and
the fork has 45mm between blades. With the Shimano brakes I could
still get a 37 in there with a little balck magic to get it in and
out.
The rear is another story. The bridge is so low that the

You might want to recheck the Tektros that you got, perhaps you got
some of the non-bigmouth standard reach calipers. Look on the Riv
website, the brakes clear a 37 no problem.

Fantastic Dave! I came very very close to grabbing a simpleone while
visiting Riv back in September. The oxblood paint is beautiful.
I talked myself out of it though. I have a nice Peugeot singlespeed
hanging in the garage that has not seen the road for 2 years now.

just dug the old shimano 550 calipers out of the trash. They seem
taller from pad to inside top of caliper, just not wide enough. I
fixed one problem and now have another...hmmm. I really want to run
the 37mm Paselas on this bike.

This problem doesn't make sense to me unless the bike has fenders. If
it does, the biggest tire that will fit will be the Jack Brown.

I had to cut the front of the fender off, but the tires before fenders had
