Frankly, the knock-offs feel as though they will grip better.

SKS fenders used to come with a little metal clip that screwed into
the fender and then snapped over the chainstay bridge. If they don't
anymore, I am sure something like that could easily be fabricated, or
perhaps even better, a plastic-coated P-clamp which is then bolted to
the fender.

I have never found a map that consistently differentiated gravel roads

I am 1/2 way through coming up with a 200 mile tour in Missouri visiting

Actually not sure if you can fit P50s or P45s on a Sam (Paul Yeoh has
SKSs over 40mm Marathon Extremes on his Sam, but I don't actually know
which model; just assumed it was the P50s, but see now that Riv claims
the P45s fit over 40mm tires). Probably best to check with Rivendell.

Just chiming in on the look and cleanliness. Whatever you've been

A wet sandy path will get them nearly-new. They lose the pristine look

Just having come back from NZ, I highly recommend Kiwibikes in
Rotorua, which was the headquarters shop for the SSWC a couple months
ago. Jeffson bikes are built by the owner of the shop. Probably not
really Rivish whatever the heck that means anymore, but they
definitely have lots of cool steel

Ouch. Feel the pain. Just installed new levers on my Sam Hillborne.
The left hood split immediately upon trying to fold it back to
install. Will make running cable and wrapping the bars a chore.
Do have a spare set for these also. Will probably grab the other left
lever and hope for the best.

It's original. I've spoken to Richard Schwinn and he went to great

Just looked up the R-14 on Riv's site: 13 lbs capacity. It's
surprising how quickly weight can add up. The R-14 is an elegant
looking rack but with just the support struts for stability it may
lack lateral stiffness.

I was thinking that the factor is the weight of the rear bag, not the
rack. Can you verify if without the rack but with the bag anything
changes?
My Atlantis with the same rack-bag combo + Noodle bars and shimmies.
When I put the Albatross bars it didn't shimmy but I couldn't get used
to them.
Try the simple things first: move the saddle slightly forward or
back, maybe 1/2, to change the weight distribution of you on the
bike. Change the distribution of stuff you carry on the bike (or
consider carrying less stuff). Raise or lower the bars to change
your position. Make sure
